OOC Name: Mike Years Of Role Playing: five or six How You Found Us: Oceanwolf hooked me up Sample Role Play With Your Character: No one saw as he landed lightly behind the diner. It was close enough to their cabin that Xelious could fly there without attracting any unwanted attention, provided he kept low over the forest that the diner backed up to. So he had skimmed the trees until finally perching on a high branch, then willing his wings to retract into his body, grimacing against the pain as he pulled them in. This accomplished, he had nimbly made his way to the ground, hopping from thick branch to thick branch, until he’d found himself where he was now.
Entering the diner, he saw that his usual table was available, but headed up to the counter first to order. He only had a short wait before he made his way over with a cup of coffee, a chocolate milkshake, and the newspaper he’d brought in with him. Xel sat at the table, newspaper in hand and a cup of coffee in front of him. Despite the autumn chill in the air, he wore a thin t-shirt and no jacket, lounging lazily in his chair as he read. Stopping in here had slowly become part of his morning routine. Although obviously aged and in need of renovation, with its faded and slightly peeling wallpaper and dated formica tabletops, the place was clean, well-lit, and the service was friendly enough. Xel glanced at his watch.Where is she?
He heard a commotion outside, something about “not a place to park that.” Voices kept being raised, until at one point he heard the higher-pitched voice growl and shout something fairly indistinct. Rolling his eyes, he took another sip of his coffee and waited, smiling fondly. A few minutes later, Emerald walked into the diner, looking much less irritated as she saw him and walked over to him.
God, she’s beautiful, he thought, glancing up and smiling at his ‘mate.’ There was something about the way her hair framed her face that made her skin seem to almost glow, even when she was looking angry with someone. He felt his stomach do a little flip as he watched her move with that lithe grace she always had.
“You know, the locals take much more kindly to you if you don’t snarl and hit them,” he teased as Emerald sat down with him.
“Oh, shut up,” she grumbled. He slid the milkshake he’d ordered for her over to her, which she gladly accepted.
“You know, I really ought to start pointing out to you that chocolate could poison half of you,” he teased, still reading the paper. He could feel her eyes boring into him without having to look up.
“I know a birdie that’s asking to get scratched,” she answered irritably. She always was angry about anything when her motorcycle was involved.
“Maybe I am,” he said playfully, giving her a look over his paper. He was rewarded with the sight of her blushing a much brighter red than her hair.
“Not here, Xelly,” she hissed, glancing around.
“No, that would probably get us arrested,” he said thoughtfully, deliberately misinterpreting her answer. “Although there’s a rather roomy closet back by the restrooms, that might be a good place-” He was cut off by a sharp kick to his shin, which made him grin. “I love you too,” he said, winking at her. Where You Come From . . .
Family Members:- Emerald is the only family he has, and as far as he’s concerned, could be all the family he needs.
Pets: n/a One Good Memory: Xel’s happiest memory is the first taste of freedom he had with Emerald. One Bad Memory: Not even being captured again tops the thought of Emerald being captured again. To him, her freedom was completely worth being captured for. Brief History: Xelious doesn’t remember anything of his life before he was caged in the Fusionist’s labs. He assumed that he was born that way, solely because he never remembered being any other way. The details seemed fairly unimportant to him, especially since most of his time was spent being subjected to experiments by the inhuman scientist. His only brief respites were the times that he could project his mind outside his body, experiencing a bit of freedom, but always finding himself unable to truly feel the wind on his wings.
He might have grown to be bitter, or even violent, were it not for the sudden introduction of a girl his age into the cell next to his. This one, small, seemingly insignificant injection of humanity and goodness helped him remain convinced that not everyone was as horrible as Fusionist was. Together, he and Emerald did the best they could to support each other through the experiments and the brief time they were together as neighbors, right up until the day that he was dragged unwillingly from the facility to be sold to Itex, in an attempt by Fusionist to prove that he was, indeed, the best scientist they could possibly have on staff.
For years, he was trained, taught to fly, taught to fight. Despite his good intentions, he learned to use his wind to fight, and to use a sword to kill. The only means of preserving his sanity was convincing himself that this would all help him free himself some day.
On one fateful day, he managed to catch glimpse of a familiar figure, being paraded in by the one person he loathed in all the world: the Fusionist. When he saw Emerald being brought in, he was convinced that this could not be a simple twist of fate. If he were going to make an escape, this was the moment. They could both be free, together.
He whispered an apology to the lab assistant he killed as he took his clothes, then made his way to where they were holding her. Their flight from the facility was filled with such quiet apologies, but he couldn’t let his moral scruples hinder their escape.
They built a home, and a life together, once they were sure that their escape had been successful. He’d long known that he loved the wolf-girl… he was willing to kill for her, and though she’d never asked and he’d never told her, he was willing to die for her.
He did, though, get the chance to prove this when she convinced him to come look for answers about their past. He himself hadn’t been interested in finding out about where he’d come from. That was the past, and the past had never been kind to him. But she was his future, and since it was important to her, it was important to him. So they’d set out on their ill-fated mission to find answers. As the doors to the facility had slid shut, he’d pushed her through the closing gap, sacrificing his freedom to make sure that she still had hers.
“I love you,” he whispered, even as hands roughly grabbed him, pushing him to the ground.
