It was dark outside when Mariel was sent for. She heard in her earpiece, and strode to the office to find out exactly what was needed. By one of the heads, the hybrid was informed of something she'd long feared. Ruby was to get another operation. A big one that would change her forever. And Mariel had to prepare her. She'd done it before. And knew the consequences if she went to defy them were to great. No, Ruby was going to break lose from here. That Xelious person could suffer, but not her little sister. She needed someone to help her.
"Ruby, wake up." She murmured, rustling the fox's ears. "You leave here, soon.
Do you know anyone that could help us break you loose without turning me into a suspect of doing it?" It felt wrong asking Ruby, but what else could be done?

The small fox girl shifted beneath the light blanket, making small yipping noises as she woke. She was absolutely exhausted from having to work almost for two days straight on that stupid collar Fusionist had wanted her to make. Ruby glanced up at Mariel, sleep still heavy in her green eyes. When the words finally registered in her head she looked up at the woman with and arched brow. The teen cradled her stuffed rabbit in her arms, hugging him close to her chest. The thought of leaving filled her with so much joy she could have squealed in happiness, but she knew that may awaken some of the other experiments. Her earlier confrontation was with Mariel was all forgotten in her mind and all she cared about was getting out.
“Emerald….my big sister could help us!” Ruby replied, her tail curling around her body. “She is a wolf hybrid and she could help me get out!”
Ruby then paused, now remembering that Mariel didn’t say anything about her getting out. Mariel seemed to be content with living in this horrible place for some strange reason and Ruby had to inquire why.
“But, what about you? Aren’t you gonna come with me, you could be safe on the outside with me! Then you could be like another sister and no one would hurt you anymore! Miss Mariel you could be part of my family if you really wanted to.” Ruby exclaimed, looking at Mariel with a saddened look. She knew that the older girl would probably say no but she could try it.

Mariel's face tightened. Her stomach felt like a ball of ice. "I could not leave here even if I wanted to." But there was some hope. Ruby had an older sister she could contact. (Remember the forest thread?) "Is your sister reliable?" She bit her lip and a drop of blood came up. She didn't like relying on others.
(Little time here, sorry!)

Ruby Looked up at Mariel with dissapointment on her little face. She had really hoped the older girl would come with her when she was able to escape. However now that her idea was shot out of the sky now she needed to reassure Mariel that her sister would come and get her if asked. "Of course she is! She is my big sister and she loves me!" Ruby exclaimed with a happy smile.
There was a long pause and then Ruby glanced at Mariel with great worry in those eyes of hers. "Miss Mariel ..are you trying to get me out because of the scientists doing something bad? What are they gonna do Miss Mariel, can you tell me?"

How could Ruby be so happy? Annoyance showed on her face, and clouded her thinking. At least someone had a person to take care of them. But that was not the important thing. The Whitecoats were turning this world upside down. "Ye s Ruby, the scientists are doing something. And we're getting you out."
