With a scarf wrapped firmly around her neck, Fontaine looked upon the blocked off entrance of the Underground. It was nearing darkness and she didn't have anywhere else to stay; the season made it difficult to sleep in certain areas. She hadn't slept in the Underground before, as she was scared that people might be down there waiting for her. She had decided to face her fear and try to get inside; it would be warmer down there at least. It also seemed secure, as most entrances were blocked off, although she had heard that many homeless people got down there.
Fontaine breathed in deeply and walked toward the blocked off entrance, searching for a weak spot where she could get through. She quickly found one, and proceeded to pull parts off the blockage to make a hole. After making her entrance, she pushed her slim body through with ease, and stood up on the other side. Looking back, her head told her to rebuild the blockage; but the shadow that had just appeared over the hole creating darkness, made her think twice.

Mint's slender figure blended in well in the darkness. A ripping, crunching noise made her snap awake. Cracks of light appeared as a person, no other identification, tore off boards. Fontaine (mint doesn't know her name...) struck her as little threat. She clapped her gloves together and said darkly- "You. Identify yourself. Pronto." It turned into a hiss with the last word. Venemous as a snake.
Mint had little idea of what Fontaine was, because humans were rarely here. She couldn't see any wings, and did not risk showing hers, either. Positioning for an attack, she slipped back into the darkness. Then Mint noticed the first strange sign- a grayish tint fell from Fontaine's skin. Unless she was old, this was unnatural. Mint was tired- it wasn't until 4:00 am she'd gotten to sleep. She was too suspicous about those kitties running wild.

The voice and clap of hands startled Fontaine, although she tried to show no fear. Her hands immediately traveled up to her neck, checking that her scarf was firmly round her neck; then realized her action might seem suspicious and turned it into running a hand through her hair. For once, the curls were dry and un-matted due to her not swimming on that day.
She repeated what had been spoken in her head, realizing that the language was quite defensive and that the one who had spoken it must not be happy that Fontaine was here, due to the venomous tone added to the last word. Effy had not been in many fights before, and she became scared of what to do. She refused to let this phase her however, as she quietly observed what this other creature was doing. Taking a breath, Fontaine answered the request, although it was spoken as a command.
"I am merely a person seeking a warm place for the night."
She spoke as calmly as she could, trying to mask the slight waver in her voice from fear. Trying to sound mature, Fontaine refused to say her name, and had said person deliberately. Hopefully, there would be no issue of her skin tone, or gills. Her gills were covered though, for now. Effy began to worry about her skin, although with the darkness, it seemed less likely that it would be an issue. Instead, Fontaine set her mind on this other creature and it's actions, not knowing who or what it was.

Going into first person!
Fat chance, I wanted to yell. But I knew better than that. Maybe the fact that I was more than a complete moron hadn't gotten to her. Nothing about her seemed hostile... you could never tell. Seriously.
She seemed a bit shaken, and that wasn't an easily faked expression. "Mint Frost." I said, it was about 60% polite. I wasn't ready to get into a fight with her, but I usually knew when someone was near me. Showing myself couldn't hurt, if she showed hostile I could always try to overpower her. Timidly, I stepped from the shadows.

OHOHSEE; '8. The only posting style is narrative.' from the rules...
EYESEE;
Fontaine was watching with sharp eyes, ready to run if she had to. She might lack strength, but her agility made up for it. She wasn't sure what this person's intentions were, and she was further confused when the creature introduced herself, then stepped out of the darkness. She acknowledged her name silently, and continued to watch her actions. She was not tense or in a fighting position, she was in merely attentive, stood simply.
She was getting quite chlaustrophobic stood in the small dark tunnel, it was worrying her. She was like many other experiments; getting nervous in confined spaces. Fontaine was tempted to just run right there and then, but it was getting darker and darker outside, and the dim light that had been in the tunnel was failing. Fontaine's eyesight was not a part of her body which had been enhanced; oh no that was limited to her skin, her lungs, her breathing and her relationship with a common element.
Fontaine looked at Mint and wondered why she has hidden, from first glances Mint seemed normal.
OHOHSEE; I assumed your wings were hidden.

//Yes, They are.
Mint was as curious as a bird seeing a mouse. This person made her find curiousity at it's best. She shivered. The tunnel had an icy feeling to it, damp and cold was a were good describing words. She looked so tense. In a second, Mint realized that was exactly how she looked, herself.
Not wanting to frighten this stranger, she made the thought Don't reveal your wings tick into action. The silence was awfully uncomfortable. Not knowing what to say, or what to do, she stepped up to help open the entrance to the underground.

Fontaine kept off the confusion that wanted to creep to her face as much as she could. Mint was changing her moods quite a lot. First, she was hostile, demanding for Fontaine's identification, the next she was opening doors and saying her name out of the blue in a half decent tone. It seemed suspicious, but Effy wasn't going to start a fight. She didn't walk through to the actual Underground however, instead she had decided to enquire just why this person was acting this way.
"What do you want from me?"
Fontaine spoke in her childish style voice; it was quite high and sounded like a person younger than herself. Then again, she wasn't exactly the picture of a fourteen year old; she looked younger only with gray skin... and gills. There was so much more different, but Fontaine kept it hidden as much as she could. The things she felt inside, what she had peiced together to create some of her memory, these things told her to never trust anyone. That was hard to do though because of her innocence; she was easily manipulated. That was something she really disliked about herself.

"That depends. Mint paused briefly, a smirky look crossed her face. "If you want something of me, then I can only ask what it is, if you're one of them. And if you're as innocent as me, I can show you what I am, and hope that you aren't one of them." There was a loud whoosh as two tattered, brown wings came into view. They had some black and gray on them, but otherwise they were a dark brown.
Mint watched eagerly to see what her response was. Why she was so eager confused even herself. Maybe a change in life was what she needed. Or wanted. Whatever. The tint on Fontaine's skin threw her off. She knew it wasn't the color of a cat, but couldn't imagine what it was, otherwise. There were dogs, avians, cats, rodents... Mint felt like counting them on her talons. Speaking of her talons, as Mint was pulling down the boards with a large amount of force, one snapped off and stuck to the board she'd been trying to break. Instead of going "Ow, I broke a nail." She rather laughed. The talon was dark brown, curved and pointed.

Fontaine's eyes widened as she saw the wings, no matter how much she tried to hide it, she was shocked to see another one like her. Yet, not like her. Fontaine was one of very few aqua-human hybrids, as many drowned when working. Fontaine was a successful one as her gills were extremely well formed and her connection with the water was second to none. They found she had this connection while testing, and decided to try fuse her with a fish. She gained other powers though; stronger than the scientists imagined she would have.
Seeing the wings sent a flashback travel straight through her mind sharply, as the picture of torturing went through her mind. She could see a room full of cages and bars in front of her, she could feel the rasping breath that came to her after long days of working to create underwater labs, she could hear the helpless screams from others being tested. Fontaine screwed her eyes up as she wished the memory would leave, as she flattened herself against the wall of the tunnel the two creatures were in. Her emotions were going crazy as it happened, and there was a rumble of thunder as she felt the memory rip through her mind.
Luckily, the flashback faded quickly, leaving Effy with the horrible memory only. The sky had opened and rain had begun to pour through, she knew inside of her that it was due to her powers since she felt slightly drained. Luckily, Mint wouldn't know it. Fontaine stood up properly and looked at Mint as she began to pull off more of the entrance. Although Mint had shown her wings, Fontaine wasn't going to reveal her gills unless she had too. How was she supposed to know that this person was someone she could trust. She had heard about the many other hybrids who's jobs were to capture experiments like herself. The main was was feline, but there could be others too.
Fontaine pulled at her scarf slightly, before tightening it again and stepping forward to the boards of wood that was covering part of the tunnel. She spoke nothing to Mint, instead started to make a hole big enough for herself to fit through. It was time to get out of the situation, before Mint realised that Fontaine was different. Knowing her luck though, Mint would have already realised.

It killed Mint not to know why Effy was down here. You didn't just HANG OUT down here. She tried to gather up the courage she needed to ask, but fell short, okay. Epic fail. A temporary look of a mixture of emotions crossed Fontaine's face, which confused her greatly. It ached her even more to know why.
This wasn't turning out so good, and it was getting wet. Ugh. She hated getting wet, swimming as an exception. She put that behind her and easily fitted herself through one of the many holes and scrambled out into the rain. It was just sunny. Whatever the condition, Mint was leaving, fast. She sprinted at a significant speed to disappear beyond several trees.
