Angel had been flying during the night, and Fang had followed her. After a small talk, they had sat down where Angel had fallen asleep listening to her older brothers heart beat. During the flight home, she didn't wake up, but was soon in her own bed, sleeping soundly as ever. Holding Celeste tightly, Angel moved under the covers more as a chill seeped over her before blissful warmth of the blanket. Her light colored hair covered part of her face but since she was asleep, she made no move to push the strands away. Total was sleeping on the end of her bed and she could feel him move every so often. It was something she knew, so she barely woke up to his movements anymore.
The sun splayed through the windows, making Angel open her eyes. With a gasp, she looked around, still holding Celeste. She had thought she heard voices downstairs and carefully hopped out of bed, heading down towards the kitchen. There was no one, and Angel looked at the clock which only told her she had woken up late. She had needed the sleep since she was so tired, but she also began to worry. Where was the others? If they were still in bed, she wasn't going to wait for them, she was going to get herself a drink of juice which was easily reached and as she poured herself a glass, she took a mouthful. The cool liquid rushed down her throat, destroying the thirst that was beginning to plague her. She could wait for breakfast.

Max quietly entered the kitchen, ruffling Angel’s hair as she passed by. “Hey kiddo, I heard you were up late last night. The other’s are already up and about, but I left you a plate of Iggy’s scrambled eggs and bacon. I can make you some toast to if you’d like.” Toast, that was about the extent of Max’s cooking skills, you just couldn’t go wrong with it. Fang had informed Max of the two’s escapades the night before, and she had let the youngest Flock member sleep in. Of course Fang hadn’t said a word to Angel about how much trouble she was in, that was Max’s job.
Pouring herself a glass of orange juice, Max pulled the plate of food from the fridge and placed it in the microwave for Angel. Settling down onto one of the kitchen chairs, pumping herself up for yet another ‘safety’ talk. These kids could probably recite them better than she could herself. “Look, sweetie, I know you couldn’t sleep and you just wanted to go out for a quick fly, but you really need to be more careful. I know it’s been safe here so far, but you never know what might be coming up.” She ran a hand through her hair, how on earth had she missed hearing Angel leave? Usually Max was right on top of even the softest noise. “If you want to go out, you need to take someone with you, especially at night. You know you can always wake up Fang or me, no matter what time it is. We’d be happy to go with you.” Max’s chest tightened. What if something had happened to Angel while she was alone? What if someone took her again? Max still had nightmares from what had happened only months ago. She didn’t know what she would do if she lost Angel, or any of the Flock for that matter. Still, Angel was more than just a sister to Max, though she would never admit it to the others. Max had taken care of the girl since she was a little, featherless chick in dippers.
