With a flick of her feet, Fontaine brought herself to the surface of the cool water. Her head resurfaced, but she kept the rest of her body underneath as she looked around. For what? She wasn't quite sure, but it was also a chance for her to take off her scarf completely. She had loosened it when she had started to swim, but it was restricting the flow of water around her body, and was sticking to her face. With a quick tug, Fontaine pulled off the scarf. She wrapped it round her hand as she began to swim a bit further to the beach, so she could leave it on some rock. As she swam, she felt a stiffness in her legs. Effy had been swimming for a while and it often made her tired. Damn those scientists; they gave her gills to swim freely and the agility to move how she wished below the sea, but at the sacrifice of a strong stamina level.
Fontaine reached the point where she could touch the sand below the water and walk to the dry, without making her head go underneath the ocean surface. She felt her toes on the thick sand, and began to walk gently toward the beach. Usually, she wore shoes, but these weren't needed below the ocean. Those too, were left on the beach somewhere. With a soft moan, Fontaine dropped onto her knees as she got her whole body onto the beach, concentrating on wringing off the scarf that she would have to wear soon enough.

Fang was flying over the beach. The sea was calm today and today was a day he wished he didn't have wings, so he could have a swim. There was a girl down below, she could swim well. Fang started to drop slightly, ever so slowly. He crept his wings back to his body and came to a gradual stop on a rock away from the girl. He slipped as the rocks were wet however caught his balance before he made a fool of himself. He carefully now, stepped across each rock jumping the last one. He stayed in the air slightly, his wings were not under his jacket yet. His jacket was wrapped around his waist. The girl would no doubt stare at his wings so he put on his jacket, hiding his black feathers.
When he reached the girl he lifted his arm, "Hi," he said and waved, "Are you OK?" She looked as though she was panting, on her knees. He crouched down to get to her eye level. This would make talking easier. He had on a pair of tight blue jeans which stretched as his legs bent and a white shirt. The shirt was a cheap one from a sale somewhere, that's all he could afford. He didn't often get money and usually spent it on clothes when he did get it. His hair was messy and could have done with a wash. He would wash it later.

Fontaine watched the water drip quickly from her scarf as she knelt, using the strength in her hands to make it leave the material as soon as possible. She knew it wouldn't go completely dry straight away, but she wished it would; when damp it was just plain uncomfortable. She sighed and put the scarf on her lap, looking around the beach.
Today was a cool day and so the beach wasn't full of tourists fortunately; in fact, there wasn't many people around. That was probably why Effy found it quite surprising to see another person stood near her, waving. She heard him greet her, and ask her if she was OK. He knelt down, and this made Fontaine grab her scarf quickly and wrap it round her neck as soon as she could. However, he looked frienly and his voice wasn't hostile, so she decided to answer him.
"Hey!" Fontaine smiled back at him weakly, "Yeah I'm fine, just a little tired!" She rubbed the back of her neck as she said it, closing her eyes breifly and smiling. She had realised that him kneeling mustant be comfortable, and so pushed her arms on the rock near to her and lifted herself up. She looked back at the person then smiled, holding out her hand. "I'm Fontaine, by the way."

Fang smiled, showing his teeth for a moment. "I'm Fang," he held out his hand to shake, like a true gentleman would. He looked at the girl's scarf. Why take a scarf to the beach if you are swimming? Wet clothes were uncomfortable, truely horrible. The sea was crashing it's wakes onto the sandy beach and the gulls above circled and called to the two below. Fang wanted to be up there with them.
"So," he said with a toothless smile, "Are you new around here?" He had never seen her before but Fontain rung a bell. She had posted on his blog before today. He had wanted to meet her. He smiled, "You posted on my blog?" He asked.
