Kail was laying on the cool sand, his wings stretched out and cushioned enough to actually feel good lying back on them, he had always thought that sand would hurt but it felt so good on his wings that he just didnt want to move now.
So thats what he did for a while, just laying there..shifting his wings once in a while, just enjoying the cool spring breezes wrapping him in a blanket of different scents and emotions, his mind happy once more after most of the strain of just day after day of experiments and courses, of electro prods and stun darts.
kail rolled now and pulled his wings out of the overlapping little waves of sand, he was somewhat buried after 3 hours of just thinking, breathing, and relaxing...now he wanted a little excercise or somethign, he was getting bored.
So Kail shook out his wings hard getting all the little sand particles out and stood up, his jeans bagged a little and then started unloading thier own amount of sand,"Jeez, nough sand here to make 3 sand castles, yeesh" he said with a chuckle and shook himself off one more time for good measure before just letting go and pushing off into the air once more.
His wings caught a warm gust of ocean air and pulled him up easily, a few seconds and he was hundreds of feet up just lazily circling around, adjusting his wings only slightly then and now to help catch a gust or push him back into his little circle....
For now, he was happy...'wonder where all the others are at now?' he wondered softly under his voice.

Pen strolled along the shore, breathing in the salty air the sea breeze carried toward land. She held her sneakers, her socks stuffed into them, in her hand, walking across the sand in bare feet. She'd rolled up her jeans to just below her knee as well. The beach, she noticed, was deserted; odd for such a nice spring day. She expected to see at least a couple people hanging around or walking their dogs or something like that.
As she ventured further down the beach, she found a patch of sand that looked like it had been disturbed, that someone had been laying there. Whoever it was, there was no sign of them. They were probably long gone. A bit tired of walking, Pen sat down near the disturbed spot, looking up at the sky. She soon laid down on the sand, hands resting behind her head, her body soaking up the rays of the sun.
As she stared up at the blue sky, she noticed a large figure sillohetted against it. At first she thought it was a bird, but it seemed too big. A kite, maybe? She thought, before dismissing that notion too-it didn't move like a kite. And she would've seen somone flying it. Another idea popped into her head. Maybe, just maybe, it was an experiment, like her.

(WhiteWolf, Kail has been part of Mint's coven for some time, alright?)
It was a carefree time for Mint- she wasn't working, or in a fight. Rare. She chuckled darkly to herself, and dived from her perch, pulling up sharply as she spotted Kail. Her scruffy brown wings dropped a feather as they fought the wind. Someone had their eye on him, she could see her through her raptor vision, clear as day. She bit her lip, hoping this wasn't going to put her day in the pits.
She could recognize Kail from miles away, but knew that her joining him would look suspicous. It would be better to distract this person, so she landed out of her sight range and started towards her. Mint was putting together things to tell her, maybe say she remembered her from school... That was possible. "Pretty kite, isn't it? My grandfather's." She said cheerily.

Kail was in Bliss, the wind in his wings, the sun on his back, and the sand below, ahhhh the life, or what was left of it.
He was still serenely circling when he saw another person crossing the beach, it was a girl he could tell from her walk, but the scent didnt match up. 'ehh, what am i worrying about, im up high enough that i just look like a big bird' he thought as he circled slowly around making wide loops across the white waves and sand now.
Of course it wasnt hard to spot Mint either, those almost black feathers on the white sand stuck out like a mortar strike, but she pulled them in a few meters away and started for the other girl,'hmm wonder what mints up to?'[/b] he said lightly to himself as he banked again trying to keep them in sight, though he couldnt hear them very well with the wind in his ears.

Pen glanced up at the newcomer, not even noticing her until she spoke. She pulled herself up she she was sitting to get a better look at her. She seemed familar, but she couldn't quite place her face. She'd probably seen her around the neighborhood, or at school, or something like that. If she did know her from school, she had to be a junior, or senior, so she wouldn't know her name anyway. Just her face. "You sure its a kite?" She asked, "Cause I swear I've seen its wings flap once or twice. And I haven't seen anybody else on the beach all day. Where's he flying it from?
If this girl was telling the truth, then the kite theory she'd tossed out would make sense. She was probably just being paranoid, thinking that other experiments were hanging around. What were the odds that two, let alone a bunch, would all be gathered in the same place, anyway? It probably wasn't worth fretting over anyway. But she didn't, of course, know if the other girl was lying or not. She could be trying to cover up whatwas really flying in the sky, whatever it was.

"Stunt kite." She replied brightly, but fell short of her goal. Mint was well aware of the dangers if she found out. Tucking her wings away, she pointed to a man who looked as if he were waving his hands in the air. "That's him, but the kite's really fragile, so I let him do it without bothering him. He's in a club." The words reminded him of Ryan, his brother who was three years younger than her.
She smiled. "Maybe you can meet him sometime.." There was something about her skin. It looked green- like unnaturally so. She had never been on good terms with any sort of alien, but this girl seemed human enough. Then it struck her, this girl could easily be a hybrid.

"errrrr, ok now this is starting to get under my fur, what are they talking about?[/b] he again said to himself, a flicker of annoyance flitting across his face. He banked once more and this time turned towards the ground slightly, losing just enough altitude to hear thier conversation clearer but not enough to really show himself off. He kept his wings taut as he heard the word kite though and just circled over head, his mind grinding away for a second, 'Kite? is she making fun of me, does she know that girl, hmm maybe shes another hybrid.....or less likely an actually trustful human?' he thought silently.

She looked at the man standing down the beach from them. "I must not have noticed him before, I guess," She replied. Pen looked back at the "kite", watching as the object lost a bit of altitude. She supposed the stunt kite idea was plausible; she didn't know all that much about kites to begin with. And if it was really a kite, and a fragile one, she decided to not to interrupt the guy with questions for the time being.
Though not totally convinced about the whole kite thing, she decided to change the subject. Her mind drifted to back to the stranger's familiarity. "So, do you go to school around here?" She asked, "You look kinda familar." It was an innocent enough question, and the most likely place she would've seen the girl, other then at the mall .

"Down in the suburbs." Mint sighed. "I just moved in there, with several friends." She spared Kail a wink. "And you?" The kite took a dive. For some reason she realized she wasn't really buying it. "I moved here 3 months ago, actually. Quite a nice place with this beautiful weather, and friendly people. My Grandfather had trouble flying his kite where we used to live." She had no known grandfather.
SORRY! I have to go pronto

Kail hald on a buffet of wind just watching the two for a second before seeing mint looking up at him, a simple message but effective enough. He banked sharply and headed more inland now, acting like a heavy kite being pulled in quickly,'Mint you are a genius, a simple kite story and that old guy over there must have been a patsy, Ohh you are good' he was spouting off little thoughts here and there about what could ahve gone wrong and how it was almost so perfect. "but i still wonder..who is that girl?[/b] he said again to himself, 'wow, im really talking to myself more often then usual...gotta stop that......later

"I live in the suburbs too," Pen replied, I've lived around here all my life. It was the truth-but not the whole truth. She had lived in the area for the whole fifteen years she was alive, but most of that time she had spent in the local Itex branch. Which wasn't much of a life at all. "And most of the people here are really friendly." She didn't really have much of a problem with anyone around the town, as long as they weren't total jerks. Or mad scientists.
"So where'd you used to live?" She asked, quickly glancing upward at the flying object again. It did look as though it was moving in a more kite-like manner now. It seemed that the man, who the other girl claimed to be her grandfather, was bringing it in.

Kail seemed as if he was doing something, in her opinion, extremely stupid. He was desending and coming a spot closer. It took her a few seconds to register what Pen was talking about after this. She resisted the impulse to say "scientist Land" or "any place" or even "just anywhere". "I used to travel with my mother. She was a scientist who worked with marine plants and animals. It was quite an interesting study, but I held her up so she sent me to live with my grandfather. Tv dinners and noodles for several months made me sick, so I gathered a band of friends and we got a decent house. I do most of the work, but it pays off."
Haha. Her life story. Not. It was full of lies- but she'd heard of her mother working with marine things, and wasn't about to blow that off. It was kind of honoring her lost parent. She felt the rays of the spring sun warm her wings, which she shifted. It was a bad habit of hers. She tried to make a quick eye contact with Kail, but failed.

Kail was now only a few hundred yards away frm the old man when he banked even sharper and straight into the trees, pulling his wings in tight he landed softly on a heavy branch and started climbing down, he didnt want to make a lot of noise but he was sure he was out of earshot anyway.
reaching the ground he reached back and pulled out the light hoodie in his pack and started putting it on. Kail always had hated being left on things, but he knew that there were somethings ya just didnt want to know...was this girl another,"or just another friend of Mint?hmmm" he said moving back towards the beach now, his tail tucked into his jeans and the hat now jammed over his scruffy furry ears. Time to see what was up again.

"Marine Biologist, huh?" Pen said, referring to the other girl's mother, "That's pretty cool." She didn't know much about marine biology, but she did know more about it then about kites. She was impressed by the fact that she lived in her own house; she didn't seem to be much older than herself, maybe a year or two.
She glanced backout at the sky, and noticed that the "kite". "Oh, your grandfather must've brought his kite back in," She said, casually. She took another quick glance at the old man down the beach. He had no sort of equipment nearby. Pen did not mention this, since something could've happened to it, like fall into the ocean or something. But it was a bit odd that he'd just be standing if that happened, and not going after it.

For a few seconds Mint was proud of her mother. It was a painful memory, but good to think about occasionally. It calmed her down. She gave a true smile, but that faded quickly.
Where in her feathers was Kail?
He wasn't in the sky, and she hadn't seen him land. And something had crossed Pen's face. It didn't seem good, she was realizing more and more.
"Yes. She had a science lab that I got into, to look around, and knocked some stuff over. A nice microscope."
She paused for a moment, calculating the next part of her story. Mint decided it had to be a bit more dramatic than just that. Besides, her mother would love her, right?
"It had a very important, platimum slide in it. It shattered and much was lost. So, Sayonara."
It was believable, to some extent. She gave a half hearted smile. Now to deal with the issue of Kite disappearing.
"Maybe it was my grandmother flying it. She's learning."
Another believable thing. Haha. She was on a roll!
