Kial was now moving back across the beach, he was only about..30-40 yards away now and closing, maybe close enough for the girl to caach sight of him but he would be coming up behind Mint out of her sight,"hehe, who said i couldnt have a little fun today" he said to himself low and started sneaking towards mint a little slower but still closeing faster as he ran in the quiet sand, a grin across his face.

"Wow. At least your mom has cool stuck to knock over," Pen replied, "My mom's just a secretary." It was the truth; but she wasn't referring to her birth mother, of course. She didn't even know that she had a birth mother, in any form other than a donated egg. She was talking about the only mother she'd known, Andrea.
When Mint suggested that her grandmother might be the one flying the now disappeared kite, Pen glanced back down the beach. The old man seemed to be gone; she supposed he'd gone looking for his kite. But she didn't remember seeing any older woman around before. Maybe she'd missed her, like she missed the old man. But that was unusual for her, to miss so many details about the place she was in like that-she was usually so observant.

What in the hell was Kail doing? He was going to screw this all up, and then there would be serious problems. She had a hunch. It was too bad he had no idea of what he was getting into, and Mint didn't want this to get to serious.
But suddenly there seemed no alternative.
"Well, that's good too. It isn't all that great when people act like your mother is a celebrity."
A cold shudder passed through her body, as if warning her to get off the beach. If that canine got any closer she was going to need to make a move. She tapped her talon like nails on her pants, but was sure to hide them. Suddenly Mint broke eye contact. Kail was getting closer.

Kail was almost there, just a couple more yards and he would be Right on top of her,'god i love doing this' he thought as he was now only a few feet away.
He coiled his legs for a heavy pounce..but stopped just a second before letting it go, something...fear?....no that had to be mint and she was shedding anxiety like a cat about to be thrown in a pool.
Kail dropped back for a nanosecond and pulled himself back to full hight again, 'if shes that high strung, doing anything could probably just get my tail sliced off with her' he thought this time as he came up beside Mint with a tiny grin on his face.
"Hey,...Long time no see" he said loud enough to carry the short distance to Mint now.

Pen smirked at her comment. She knew a few kids like that at school-kids who acted like their parents (and themselves) were vastly more important than others just because they made more money then everyone else. It was a ridiculous idea, but no one ever seemed to stop and tell them that.
She watched as the other girl's demeanor suddenly changed, but only subtly. A slight shudder, fingers tapping against her thigh, and lastly, a break in eye contact. Pen narrowed her eyes slightly, focusing on the girl's fingernails, thinking for a moment that she saw talons. No, She thought, It couldn't be...Maybe the sun's just playing tricks on me today. First the kite, and now this.
Her train of though twas broken when she heard another voice, a unfamiliar one. She looked and saw a boy standing next to Mint. She raised an eyebrow at the newcomer. "Friend of yours?" She asked with curiosity in her voice.

Kail you f-ing idiot... She fumed silently, but guarded it well. Mint made a decision not to reveal her acquaintance's real name. There was no use in lying that they didn't know one another, but a plain was building in her mind.
"I thought you were in Arizona! Kai, I haven't seen you since last month!"
As a smite to Kail, he gave him a firm hug, that would've been hard to pull out of. But it was time to set this Pen person right.
"This Kai, my brother."
A wave of pain inspired by a memory flushed the hybrid. Her real brother. Ryan Frost. She had left him at the lab, all those years ago. For a second she felt as if she might vomit, but the nausea passed quickly.

Kail shrugged at the comment, he knew she would probably say something like that, she would cover for him someway somehow.
Coming up beside mint, he now grinned at the girl that he had seen from the air, she was kinda cute in her own sorta way..but had a bit of a green tinge..maybe the salty air was a little much for her?
"yeah well you know me, always popping right outta the blue as always" he said giving mint a small toothy flash before turning back to the other girl,"And who might we have here?" he asked putting as much gentlmenlyness (if i spelled it wrong...so sue me , dont even know if its a word >_<) as possible and still assume the position of annoying Brother as well.

So, the boy was her brother. A perfectly reasonable explanation as to why he was here. It didn't explain how he just showed up out of the blue. Or why the girl's attitude had made a sudden, slight change just before he showed. She chased the thoughts out of her. You're just being paranoid again, She thought to herself, Forget about it. Its probably nothing.
Pen looked up at the new boy, who the girl had introduced as Kai. "My name's Pen. Its nice to meet you, Kai." She said, smiling back at him. She didn't see much harm in telling him her real name; it was just her first name, after all. She glanced back towards the girl. "Speaking of names, I didn't get yours." As she said it, the other girl looked like she was going to puke, just for a moment, but it quickly faded away. "Are you alright?"Pen asked, nevertheless.

Mint swore more than you would ever want to hear- silently.
Without missing a beat, she pulled together another tale.
"I've been out here for awhile. Sea sickness, terrible but I love the beach."
Mint gave a half hearted smile. Now she had to debate whether or not to give a name...
"Megan."
She replied pleasantly.

kail nodded at the twos names and smiled,"nice to meet ya pen, well now that everyone knows each other, i think i should tell my sister here that we still have to finish up on the project from Last Week" he said giving Mint a quick glance before turning back to Pen.
"sorry for the hasty introductions, but we gotta go, if we dont finish the the project by tomarrow, well were screwed" he said with a bit of a grin showing off a longer than usual canine tooth with it.
(yet another one of kails screwups on trying to help or meet someone >_<)

Pen had never heard of getting seasick just from being on a beach before. On a boat, yes, but not just out on a beach. She didn't question, she really knew as much about seasickness as she did about kites. When Kail spoke up again, however she furrowed her eyebrows slightly. Something wasn't sitting right. "Last week..." She said, taking a slight pause before continuing, "I thought that Megan said she hadn't seen you since last month."
She could've misheard her, or they could've been talking online or on the phone. But still, something wasn't sitting right with her. She glanced between Kai and Megan, waiting for either one of them to say something. As she did, she saw-or at least, thought she did-that Kail's canine tooth was long. Just long enough to not be human. Her mind suddenly leaped back to her experiment theory, about the so-called kite. It was a long shot, but maybe she had been right.

Kail, I am going to gut you. She thought bitterly. It was going to take more than a sneaky lie to break from this. She slipped her talons into soft pockets, and pretended to hear something. Yes- the plan was forming nicely. Mint would have to pretend she heard someone calling. Without putting serious thought into it, she started to speak, after turning her head, of course.
"Just a minute, mom!"
The hybrid bellowed, in the direction of the number of restaurants and things on the beach. In seconds she realized her grave mistake. Heheh... Her mother? Even "Kai" Would know it was bogus. Mint seemed capable of tracing all her problems to him.
