Nathaneil Cole strolled into the Internet Cafe, whistling some cheery tuneless song as he ordered his coffee and took a nice, quite seat near the window. The rays of sunlight that poured in through the fancifully painted glass felt particularly nice today, though he'd come to the exact same spot as often as he could for the past couple weeks and seen many days like today.

Well, not quite like today. Cole reminded himself with an impish grin. Indeed, today was different. Today his many days of hunting would finally reap the benefits. Cole frowned thoughtfully, picking up a newspaper someone had left behind and mindlessly scanning the headings. Hunting really was too harsh a word for what he was doing. Hunting implied that something was to be harmed or killed in the end and he had made no plans to kill anyone.

"Then again," Cole muttered under his breath as his eyes fell on a particularly striking heading, "Plans can always be changed."

Sipping his coffee, Cole tore into the article, his lips moving soundlessly as he read.

Search For Nikolina Haldis Continues

Though police throughout the country have condemned the case to be quite cold, 21 year old Sven Jacobs still persists his search for Nikolina Haldis, a Norwegian American grad student who vanished quite suddenly almost three years ago. Childhood friends, Jacobs and Haldis had been seeing each other previous to her disappearance, there had been talk of engagement, according to close friends and family.

"I know things aren't looking too good," says Jacobs, "but I'm not giving this thing up until I get a straight answer. No one knows for certain if she's dead or alive. I can't let go until I know for sure."

Jacobs hosts a website (www.FindNikolinaHaldis.com) meant to compile any and all information on the disappearance and whereabouts of Haldis. The site has been up and running since the first month of Haldis' disappearance. Jacobs pleads that if anyone knows anything at all about the disappearance or whereabouts, they should leave him a message through the site or contact the police immediately. The site does allow for anonymous posting.



"Well would you look at that," Cole muttered quietly over his coffee, half impressed and somewhat annoyed, "Looks like Chimera got more than they bargained for with that one."

Tossing the paper aside, Cole stifled a yawn and stretched, ignoring the creak and pop of his old bones. A glance at his watch told him that his quarry was running late, an unfortunate inconvenience to be sure, but one that was not, at least for the moment, without it's advantages. Cole scanned the flocks of people around him, idly guessing which of them would make good candidates for new experiments and which among them were actually escaped hybrids. Thanks to Itex and all their follies, experiments were escaping left and right all over the country and Cole had it under good authority that at least one in twenty of the people in this very cafe weren't exactly what they seemed.

As such, Nathaneil has become a sort of sympathizer to the mutants, “helping” them escape and stay off Chimera’s radar when he can.

Brief History: Nathaneil went into business with Chimera as a young man with the idea that he would be working to better the human race. Over the years these ideals seemed to fall askew since subjects were taken against their will and experiments were treated inhumanly. Nathaneil stayed to protect his work and to try to fix things from the inside but people began to shut him out, he decided to even the odds and began taking matters into his own hands, freeing experiments when he could as mentioned before.
