Xelious rolled his eyes at the comment, making sure to lay back again with his eyes pointing up so that Ruby couldn't see. "There could be," he amitted. "But unfortunately, there are always people who are too eager to ind people like us to lock us up like animals again. Maybe the secret is just running far enough," he mused.
He couldn't bring himself to burst Ruby's bubble, but Mariel seemed far too indoctrinated by the labs to want to help them escape, or to escape herself. Which was sad, since she didn't look much older than Ruby was. What was it that made them so different? Was Ruby smarter than Mari? Was Mari smarter? Was she just more hardened?
He saw her claws come out at his comment, and for a moment wished she'd open his cage so she could try to 'punish' him. He'd been trained just as much as she had to take down rogue experiments... just because you preferred not to use the training didn't make it go away.

A deep sigh came from the hybrid. It was going to be a one-way ticket to a fight with Ruby and Xel if they escaped. Xelious she could fight, she could kill. But doing anything to little Ruby made her stomach churn. It wasn't right to hurt such a defenseless child.
"Don't allow me to be near to you when you escape. Don't let me know if you can 'elp it. Xelious."
The rest of what she had to say was for the bird hybrid. Mariel inhaled deeply, then said using a single breath:
"You know me and Crone will be set on you, whether we like it or not. Now, before I get too annoyed *cough and breath replenish* with you to not hunt you, watch it."
She winced at what had to be done. But it wasn't safe for them anymore, anywhere. She knew it- Xel knew it. And now Ruby knew it. She would always love Ruby like a little sister, but she couldn't let it come down to...
It. The space of no escape. Pain dragged in with it no matter how hard she tried to reject it. She was playing Xelious, and doing an excellent job of it. But yet the thought of hurting 'Lectricfox pained her.

Ruby's eyes widened at Mariel's statement, ears flattening flat to her head. That couldn't be true, Ruby adored Miss mariel, she wouldn't hurt them if they tried to escape, she would have to come with them. The little foxling didn't understand and the look showed clearly upon her small face. She placed Buster on the floor next to her and looked out in the front of the cage at the Tiger girl who stood before her.
"But, Miss Mariel you can't stay here! What if they try to experiment on you or if Fusionist tries to take you away into that really horrible place with the dark hallway infront of it?" Ruby asked, her voice filled with worry and concern. Then her eyes softened, her lip trembling. "You are my friend....I want to protect you from the bad things in these labs, thats what friends do right? Care for one another?"
Ruby's voice and mind where both filled with confusion and sorrow as she thought of the possibility of her friend not coming. She tried to cheer herself up vaguely by talking to Mr Xelly.
"Is the outside nice mr Xelly? Was being free from here fun before could you do whatever you want like make toy robots or read books whenever you want?" Ruby asked, her tone hopeful.

Xelious looked up at Mariel with an expression of pity and disgust, then just shook his head. He wasn't fooled by her. Did she care for Ruby? She might think that she did. But how could someone love someone and still want to see them locked up. More than likely, it just made her feel a little better about herself to be nice to the little fox-girl.
"Yes, it is, Ruby. But I think we've said enough in front of our good jailer here." He wasn't fooled by Mariel. He couldn't trust her any closer than the reach of her claws, and he wasn't going to be caught off guard by her. Could there be hope for her? Anything was possible, he supposed. But anything he said in front of her was said to the enemy, so he had to be careful. Right now it was just idle banter about what the outside was like, which was harmless enough. Anything further could be dangerous.
But if it came down to it, he'd suck the air right out of her lungs. Her and any other little experiments that were trying to stop them. He'd feel the guilt for it later, but it was unavoidable. They'd chosen their side... and it wasn't his.

It was beautiful to her that Ruby cared so much. Ruby had a right to see what was really happening between her and Xel. Time to make a twist to the real world, RIGHT? Like your parents always said, right? If only she could put it without hurting her to much. But it wasn't possible. A scarred look crossed her face.
"As you can see Ruby, Xelious is enjoying this more than anyone should. I'm not the little kitty girl, I'm a lethal experiment where I come from. Geez, obviously I don't want to be anchored here. Who does?"
A tone of venom weaved it's way into her thoughts. She felt like vomiting. A wave of curiosity flushed her face as she wondered what they would respond like, but pushed it from her mind.

Ruby's tail curled around her small body tightly now as she held Buster up against her chest. The Little fox girl thought it wasn't fair, she wanted to take miss Mariel with them, then they could all be safe. The Foxling just didn't understand why Mariel wished to remain here and be mean to the other experiments. Ruby merely, laying down on the floor of the dog crate, hugging buster close to her body as she used the towel that she had 'borrowed' from the Shower to cover herself up with.
"Im sorry you feel that way Miss Mariel. You are a good person, I know you are, you just have to find that good person thats inside of you. Right now though, all I see is a big horrifying Jungle cat thats about to pounce on me with huge snarling, drooping fangs." Ruby responded cooly, trying her best to sound intimidating.
Ruby was now imagining a world outside of the labs, a world that was slowly unfolding beneath her eyes. She looked away from Mariel, trying to get lost in her own little dream world.

For the first time, she was fed the impulse to do something to Ruby. Ashamed it had even came to her, Mariel's head hung. It was what she was, and there was no escaping it. Her stomach lurched. A vengeful idea was brewing.
"I might just have to report you."
It was a cold, uncalled for remark. Somehow it fit her. It was an empty threat, but she could do it.
...Lacks imagination...
