The funny thing about time was the fact that it seemed to breeze by the world so very fast. It was always running by seemingly fluidly like a stream of water going through the vast forest in which Emerald lived. For the past 3 weeks Emerald had been making up for lost time in a a sense. Soon after her failed attempts at finding Xel as well as her being attacked by crone, she was visited by Mariel telling her that her sister was alive and well. The wolf girl hadn't exactly believed this but after going to Moe's place to get a few things before she saved the kit, she found it to be true. Ruby had been in Moe's back room for a day or two, all bandaged up and ready to come and visit her.
Their reunion was a sight to be seen, there was a lot of crying, talking, screaming and hugging all in the course of an hour or so. After which, Emerald took the little fox girl to her new home and had allowed her to tell everything about what happened at the labs. Emerald had learned he fate of her Bird man as well, how he had helped her sister escape and how he himself had probably escaped.
So, while she had been taking care of Ruby for the past three weeks, she had been looking...always looking for her Xel. Today the forest was quite, even as she patroled it hardly a sound echoed through the big oak trees and the wolf girl continued to walk and wait.
"Xelious..." The female stated aloud quitely glancing up at his favorite tree he used to 'perch in. "Where are you?"

To say that all Xelious felt on seeing Emerald was happiness would be a bit of a lie. Xelious had flown from the laboratory, and spent three weeks wandering the woods.
The fact that he could not remember how he had escaped bothered him. Judging from the blood and gore, he'd hurt, possibly even killed, quite a few people. It had taken three weeks for him to reflect on things, become comfortable with himself, and trust that he really was in control of himself.
So when he saw Emerald, for the first time in months, he also felt very, very hungry.
This, however, took a back seat to the flutter he felt in his chest when he saw her, gazing off in the air with her back to him. He bit his lip, wanting to sneak up on her, but unable to take the time for it. So instead, he began running, quickly covering the last bit of distance between him and their home.

Emerald sighed deeply when she saw no signs of her boyfriend or smelt no scent of him at all in her brief treck of the forest. The female glanced down at her wrisfeatherch and saw it was just about time for lunch, which she had promised she would make for Ruby. The Fox girl was still recovering from the treatment at the labs and she needed as much food and nourishment as possible. Ruby was so small and fragile, Emerald was surprised that she didnt break with some of the treatments she had been given. Then again...she was a Lupin, and Lupins were tough! Well at least thats what Emerald had always believed.
The wolf girl had started to walk back to the cabin, reflecting on her past weeks without Xel. They had been far harder than the rest of the time he had been away from her because she knew he was out there. She knew that somewhere her Xelly was out there all alone and possibly injured or worst! It wasn't exactly a good thing to be thinking about and the female wolf felt tears well in her eyes when she thought about it before she blinked them back.
Suddenly, she caught a slightly stale scent.... but it was his scent. Emerald looked around frantically, sniffing the air like a mad beast before she caught the scent again. Emerald sprinted in the direction the scent was coming from running at full force, not even looking were she was going, all she was seeing with was her nose, which knew the scent of almost every tree and shrub in this forest. The female avoided the trees skillfully as she ran and ran the scent getting stronger and stronger as she ran. A howl of pure elated joy rippled through her throat as she ran, the thoughts of actually seeing Xel again sprang into her mind and her body filled with even more elated joy.

Xelious's vision was blurred, his eyes misting over, but he blinked it back, watching as she ran toward him.
She didn't need to see him. He grabbed her, just as she passed him. He lifted her off the ground, her momentum spinning them around, and knocking them over, with her landing hard atop him. He didn't care. Once his breath came back to him he was laughing, laughing and holding her, a manic laugh that almost bordered on insanity.

Emerald let out a gleeful bark when she was suddenly spun around by her own momentum. Her loves scent overwhelmed her causing her to wag her tail back and forht about a mile a minute even as she landed hard ontop of him. Her Xelious! Her Xelly was back and he was with her and he was safe! The wolf girl lay ontop of him, smiled like a absolute looney bird, tears rappidly welling in her eyes. The Female lay er head on Xelious chest, wrapping her arms around him.
"Xelly..my Xelly...My Xelly is back!" She exclaimed, nuzzling him gently. She kissed his face all over, snuggling in his arms. She was so happy she had her bird man back after all this time. Soft tears fell down her face and onto his shirt which she clung onto contently. Emerald snuggled against Xelious as a cold breeze blew over them.

Xelious just lay back, his eyes squeezed shut against the tears as he held her tight. He let his hands rub over her back, reveling in the feel of her against him. He was home. He was free. He had his mate in his arms. Life was prefect... almost.
He looked up at her, smiling. "Sorry I'm a little late," he said, his voice thick. "But man, traffic was a bitch."

Emerald smiled at him coyly letting out a playful growl. The Female bared her teeth at him in fake menace, her tail wagging back and forth acting as if she was irritated. She knew that Xel would see right through her ruse, but this was mainly for playful purposes only. Besides she enjoyed teasing him far to much, he was just so fun! Oh god how she missed him! Her Xelly! Emerald was no one Else's but his, and he was just hers, they belonged together.
Now, amidst Emerald's gleeful feelings and expressions she didn't even notices that she hadn't bothered to re wrap some of her bandages. Her injuries from both Crone and her several attempts to get inside other Chimera laboratories were somewhat visible. She had a few claw marks on her face and her entire lower torso was covered in some long grotesque looking cuts, most of them covered by her feather. She had bruises up and down her arms as well as one on her neck.
However, despite this, Emerald seemed not to care because she responded to her noticeably thinner love with a huff. "Oh really? Would it have killed you to give me a ring?" She asked, looking like a hurt little pup. Part of her actually did feel that way though, why did it take so long for him to get here?

Xelious smiled back up at her, stroking her face gently. "Well, you know how it is. Silly labs don't get good cell reception." He looked up at her, noticing the claw marks on her face for the first time. "What... what happened to you?" he asked, tracing the claw marks with his thumb. Oh hell... that psychotic cat... He sat up a little, taking in all of her appearance. "What did happen to you?" he asked, much more quietly.

Emerald felt Xel's hand on her face and she smiled at him , her own hand holding his free one. A small laugh escaped her throat as she looked a him, that same wolfish grin on her face. The female silently cursed herself for not covering up her wounds from her previous 'battles'. Now she had her Xelious all worried about her just when he got back from what was a virtual hell.
"Just had a run in with my old sparring partner Crone nothing bad happened dont worry. Oh and then I tried finding you in other labs and I succeeding in finding out you weren't in any of those." Emerald replied with a small light hearted laugh. She Kissed him on the lips gently ruffling his hair, just like she always did.
The wolf girl watched his eyes reflect back into her own and so the familiar presence of worry in them and she shook her head at him "I am more worried about you! I'm not hurt anyways these are old wounds! " It was true that the wounds were indeed old however, they still could reopen at any time and they were also no the prettiest looking marks on the wolf girls body. Emerald then started examining Xel, looking at him as if she was examining him from underneath a microscope. She obviously wanted to make sure he was okay, not caring if any of her bruises ached any. Which they did...because she flinched a little when she put her elbows then arms gently down on Xel's chest to lay her head down.
"Are you alright Xelious?" Emerald asked.

But Xelious didn't hear anything after she implicated Crone.
He gritted his teeth, feeling the blood rushing to his head in a hot rage. "I hope you killed that bastard," he said through gritted teeth, "Because if you didn't, I'm going to find him and tear his limbs off."
That silly cat, always thinking he was so superior, oh 'la de da, I'm a predator, look at big bad me.' He had no idea what real power was, what real skill and determination was. Well, Xelious would show him that. And when the pathetic little pussy-cat begged him for mercy, he'd just laugh, and start to skin him alive.
That thought made Xelious pause, then a cold feeling washed over him as he realized what he'd been contemplating. He took a deep breath.
"I'm all right... just still a little stiff. And hungry," he added with a little smile.

After seeing Xelious 's rather odd reaction to her statemet about Crone she had to admit she was rather surprised. Xelious typically didn't show anger to easilly, it was something he really didn't do. Normally he was the kind of person who held back a lot of things, however his experience at the labs seemed to change him and Emerald didn't know if she liked it or not.
What she did like though was the fact her Xelly was home and safe, so this made her obviously, very happy. The Wolf girl looked at him , rolling off of him with a small grin, placing a hand on that stomach of his before laying her head on it. She listened to the distinct growl of his stomach and grinned up at him.
"You want me to make you something to eat?" She asked curiously.

Xel gave her a wicked smiled. "Hmmmm... to start with," he said, teasingly. His face grew a little more serious then. "I... take it that Ruby made it here?" This had been something that had been worrying him as well. He was fairly sure that the little fox gir hadn't been recaptured, but he didn't know if something else had happened to her. He had searched to make sure there was no trace of her being lost or getting into a fight... but this was the first time that he would really know.

Emerald looked up at Xel with curious eyes when he said 'to start with'. She didnt think he would be in the mood for that already, but then again he had been away from her for months. Maybe he was craving the wolf girls love, which she didnt mind because she was more than happy to give it.
"Ruby Got here safe and sound. She is doing a lot better than she was. The pup was about 11 pounds underweight when I got to her, badly injured and sick. But she is recovering back at the house and she just requires bed rest mainly now." Emerald told him hugging him gently. She moved upwards and snuggled tightly against him feeling another breeze. "I missed you so much all I want is for you to be with me and never getting separated again."
Emerald said this last part in a choked, tear filled tone. Even though she wasnt crying she still sounded pretty choked up as she snuggled closer to him

"Don't worry," Xel said, hugging her tightly. "No chance of that. I'm staying here with you, and it's going to take a hell of a lot more than a stupid lab to drag me away." He did still have his concernes. Crone evidently knew where they lived now, and the first thing that came to his mind was that they ought to relocate again. But that could happen later. Right now, he was just happy, ecstatic, to be back with his wolf.
He steadied himself, then stood up, picking Emerald up with him, and started walking the familiar route to their cabin, carrying her in his arms, as he so often had when he'd come out to find her when she'd run off after having a nightmare. He kissed her forehead as he walked, then leaned his head against hers.

Emerald let out a startled bark when she was picked up, looking up at Xel curiously. What was he doing picking her up? He just got back from the labs, he shouldn't be this strong! The female was about to protest this matter when he kissed her on the forehead as they walked. Emerald smiled lightly at him, her tail wagging as he leaned his head against her. She began to relax in Xelious arms feeling everything was going to be alright.
"Xelly...aren't you hurt? You just got back from the labs you shouldn't be overstraining yourself." The wolf girl told him, concern clearly in her voice. "Then again I'm not the one to talk because I just ran out here and I look worse than you do."
