Xelious smiled, taking his plate from Emmy. He sniffed it once, not because he didn't think she'd done it right, but becuase he just hadn't smelled one in so long. "Mmm... This is fantastic," Xelious said with a grin after taking a bite. He leaned up and gave Emmy a kiss before he kept eating.
"And... I don't know about that, Ruby. I dono't even know if I have parents."

Ruby looked up at him with wide eyes, "Of course you have parents! Those Scientest had to get egg and sperm from somewhere!" Ruby Exclaimed, her tail fluffing out. She started to eat her sandwhich again, once again making her happy food noises.
Emerald looked at Ruby with absolute surprise. In truth, the wolf girl didnt think that Ruby even knew about sex. Then again, she was thirteen years old and she was smart enough to know how to build a robot in less than a day. BUT SHE WAS HER LITTLE SISTER SHE SHOULDNT KNOW THINGS LIKE THAT! Emerald still thought of Ruby as that little fox girl who started crying when she saw a crab. She missed the days were she was able to just scoop Ruby up and take her home when she got scared.
The wolf girl shook these things out of her mind though, trying to enjoy the here and now. She still could pick Ruby up and protect her from everything, but it just wasnt the same!
"Right...." Emerald replied a little despondantly.

Xelious almost choked on his sandwich at Ruby's comment. Some kids, he decided, knew too much for their own good.
He shook his head, taking a drink to make sure he didn't really choke. "It doesn't really matter to me. If I had parents, they didn't do much for me. It's not like I have parents I can miss or anything, so I don't see any reason to worry too much."

Ruby finished off her food rather quickly and let out a little yawn, her tail curling around her body. She watched as her older sister cam to sit down next to her and she instantly leaned over to lay on her sisters shoulder. The Kit had obviously needed sleep due to her sickness so this was good she was getting it now. Emerald smiled and watched as Ruby fell asleep, ruffling her hair a little bit.
The wolf girl scooped Ruby up gently and then tucked her into bed without a word, kissing her on the forehead. The little kit looked so peaceful when she was sleeping Emerald couldn't help but warmly smile at the little one. Emerald loved her baby sister and she hoped Xel would love her as much as he would his own family members if they were here.
The wolf girl walked back into the room with a content smile on her face, taking Xelious by the hand and practically dragging him to the bedroom. "Its getting late I haven't had any sleep and neither have you, I think we need some nice sleep." The wolf girl explained with a little wag of her tail
Later on
The two lovers were snuggly cudddled in each others embrace. Emerald had her head laying on Xelious chest her body fitting perfectly with his. Xelious on the other hand had his arm wrapped around the wolf girl and had his wings fully unfurled, giving the two a fluffy blanket of feathers. Both were rather content sleeping like this, however...with traumatic experience, nightmares often breed in the innermost sanctity of the mind and judging by their movements, it was easy to see one of the lovers was not having a good time in their dreamland right now.

He was chained to the chair, unable to move. All he could do was watch through the soundproof window as Emmy curled up, whimpering in the next room.
It was sadistically designed for her. She was lying in the one clear spot in the room, with needles covering every inch of the walls and the floor around her. Her breath formed clouds in the air as the temperature dropped, the refrigeration units in the frezer she was in doing their work. He shouted and thrashed, trying to get out as Fusionist, warmly bundled against the cold himself, began to prod her naked body with a cattle prod, using the electricity to make her move.
Then, the dream shifted, and he was the one in the room, holding the prod. "You shouldn't have let me back in, silly girl. The company always wins in the end," he sneered down at Emerald as she looked up, pleadingly at him. "And you thought I loved you," he said, disgusted, as he rammed the prod into her stomach. She shrieked as the electricity coursed through her, shoving herself backward away from it, right into the needles...
"NO!" he screamed, shooting up in bed, his breathing hard, his body covered in a cold sweat. for a moment, he looked around, trying to make sense of where he had just been, and where he was now. Just a dream... it was just a dream...

Emerald on the other hand was having a wonderful dream about a picnic with Xelious with lots of sunshine and happiness. The wolf girl had been contently munching on some ham in her dream when she woke up, thirsty, in need of some water. When she returned and snuggled in with Xelious just as she was about to fall back asleep Xelious jolted up and screamed. Emerald nearly jumped out of her skin when she did this and jumped in bed causing herself to clumsily bang her head against the headboard. With a sharp growl the female rubbed her head sorely just before she glanced over at Xel.
Her mate looked frightened, as if he had just seen something absolutely terrible. The wolf girl's irritated eyes softened, her body moving over to Xelious as he looked around the room. Emerald wrapped her arms around him gently, her head laying on his shoulder. She hugged him tightly as if she was trying to take whatever nightmare he just had far away.
"Xelious," Emerald murmured his name softly, "they cant hurt you anymore, your safe now."

Xelious, however, pulled her to him, wrapping her in his arms like he was afraid that she'd suddenly be pulled from him. He didn't seem capable of speech at the moment, he just squeezed Emmy, mindful of her bandages, and rocked. His hands rubbed over her arms and back, like he was trying to warm her. All the while, his eyes were closed as he shook his head, trying to deny whatever it was that had happened.

Emerald wasn't surprised when Xel pulled her to him. She had figured he had a bad dream and he would need some comforting. THe wolf girl snuggled a little in his arms just as he started to rock her causing her to look up in slight confusion. She felt his hands rubbing her arms and her back and found it rather similar to when he tried to warm her when they were just little kids. He used to do it every time they were in the cell together to calm Emerald down in the colder months. Emerald looked at him, looking at this closed eyes for a moment just before she took her hand and started running it through his hair. Her arms were cold however, and she wondered if he would pick up on that. She hoped he didn't because she didn't want to worry him any more. So the two just sat their in silence, Em was waiting for Xelious voice to erupt.

Xelious finally spoke in a halting, nervous voice. "I'm... sorry. Just a... stupid nightmare. Shouldn't let it bother me," he said quietly. Even as he said this, though, he didn't let go of her, or stop rocking. "I... dreamed that he had you again," he said, more quietly now, not needing to specify who 'he' was. He knew she would understand it. "He had you in the freezer... all sorts of needles on the floor." As he said it, unconsciously Xelious's hands slid over her arms, feeling for needle marks. "Then... it was me doing it, and I couldn't stop it, because they were controlling me, and... and..." He broke off, unable to describe it any further. He turned his head, unable to let her look at him right then.

Emerald felt his hands on her arms, moving up and down as if feeling around for something. Emerald felt like she should do something to reasure him, but she allowed him to talk more, which allowed her to think. His nightmare was terrible to say the least about it and from what the young wolf girl was getting Xelious was freaked out by all this. In truth, so was she, Xelious usually never had nightmares about the labs and if he did they were never of this magnitude.
"Xelly..." Emerald said, her voice soft and soothing. "It was just a dream. I'm right here, nothing is going to happen alright?" There was a long pause just before a devilish grin crept on Em's face, intending on bringing her love out of this. "My Bird brain wouldn't do that anyways, he would be to busy eating seeds."
It was something Emerald had always done to Xel when he seemed scared or frustrated at something. It was playful teasing that usually snapped him out of it.

"Only if they're sunflower seeds. Only a crazy person doesn't like sunflower seeds," he said, though he still sounded a little distracted. He took a deep breath, looking down at the bed. When he spoke again, he was quieter. "When they recaptured me... he was mad, Emmy," he said, quietly. "Before, everything he did was to divorce us from emotion... make us stronger and more controllable. Now... it was just to make him laugh. Acid pumped through my veins, dropping me into the incinerator and making me smash my way out the service door, leaving me tied up for their little cat-people to play with... there was no purpose to any of it... just to make it hurt... make me lose hope... anything that would scare me. Then... he figured out that the only thing that scared me was something happening to you."

Emerald's face curved into an elated smile when he took the joke and she was about to make another one when he spoke once again. Her smile curved downward into an irritated grimace, anger pulsing through her veins. As Xel described all the things that Fusionist did to him Emerald muttered several times. "I will Kill him." Her voice was low and deadly as she said all of this. She then continued to listen and her thoughts began to rush as soon as he continued. Emerald had figured out the Fusionist had a sadistic side long ago, right around the whole 'shock punishment' thing began. He used to strap her to a table every time she did something bad and shock her with a taser.
It was a rather painful experience considering that Electricity wasn't exactly something she was immune against. The Wolf girl had to admit to herself right then and there that she was a small bit of fear going through her right now. Not fear of Fusionist, oh no, she would never fear him, but what she did fear was what could be done to her by Fusionist. The guy knew everything about her, all her weaknesses, her fears everything and he knew just how to use them against her. If his purpose was to just mindlessly torture Xelious and herself, they may have a bit of a situation here. If he found out where they lived and he managed to catch them both again who knows what he would do.
"Fusionist is a sick freak who enjoys our pain Xel, you know that," She told him, her voice strong and powerful. "We were the only ones who defied him so ether of us being in pain would be like honey for his bee hive. What we need to do is we have to make sure he doesn't get us again, just until things die down a little after your grand escape. We have to be on our toes because we have to not only protect each other now but we have to protect Ruby as well."
Emerald let out a deep sigh, clenching her fists at her side. "I would rather burn in hell then to let that bastard get ether of you again."

"I hate him," Xelious said quietly. "I... hate that I can't leave it all behind. I close my eyes, and I expect to wake up to someone kicking my cage, like this has all been a dream. I'm still back in the labs, those psychotic cats they have beaten into submission are waiting to taunt me... I just want it to all go away."

"It will go away Xelious I promise." Emerald told him, kissing him gently. Her grip tightened on her lover and she nuzzled against him gently. The female was now determined to get Xelious out of this funk. She snuggled against him more, making her body fit perfectly with his, her fingers stroking his back. She didnt want him to feel horrible anymore she wanted him to feel good and happy now. The wolf girl held him for a long while before she looked at him. "Lets make it go away Xelly. Come on....why dont we go flying or swimming or snuggle."

For a moment, Xelious was tempted. He wanted anything that would make it go away... But he sighed, chuckling weakly as he lay back on the bed. "I've been flying and swimming and sleeping on dirt for the past week or so," he mused, pulling Emmy to him. "Right now, I just want to be right here."
